about

These songs were written over the course of about a year, from 2013-2014. I was living at my parents house and recorded them in the closet in the room i was staying in. I was having a bad time and i was trying to record tomorrow in the bathroom and this little kid was taking a bath on the other side of the wall and he was playing with toys and splashing and making a whole bunch of racket and my sensitive condensor mic was picking up most of it, so i was getting in the habit of not even caring if there were background noises. But then my grandma comes up to me and says, "hey we cleared out this closet and you should turn it into your recording studio and just record all your stuff in there! They were very caring and helpful and it was nice for me to make music around my parents, something i had kind of been afraid of doing before. That's where the electronic songs came in actually, I was able to make those in silence with headphones and not bother anyone late at night. I remember doing the vocals for 'Head Low' in my car just so I could be a bit louder than usual. But after i had the closet I could be a bit louder and more comfortable and thats when i was able to make the louder songs like 'Domino' and 'A Note From the Last Pilot'. I lived off of making and recording these songs. I didn't have anyone around and i felt very lonely and defeated, and making this album is what got me through it. I also thought a lot about what I liked to hear and what others like to hear, and i combined the two together. I took some elements from modern pop and hip hop and incorporated it into my rhythm section. I would record a loose take of a song, spend days adding electronic beats and synths, then delete all the real stuff i did and re record it all to the electronic stuff to create a more natural atmosphere, as if i was playing in a band of robots. It was a great process for recording and i learned a lot about doubling things and about when do be simplistic and when not to be.

Track Name: Hello
hello how are you doing this evening
are there any good books that you're reading
the thing i want to say is on the tip of my tongue
the feeling goes away before the moment is done
there must be something more
before you close the door
i lost the battle will i win the war?

i know you know we know yeah we're a dream….team
she wants blue but he wants aquamarine….please

hello how are you doing this evening
are there any good books that you're reading
i can't remember names but i remember faces
i cant remember roads but i remember places
my pair of eyes are gone
my finger notes are wrong
i lost the battle will i win the war?

i know you know we know yeah we're a dream….team
she wants blue but he wants aquamarine….please
Track Name: Tomorrow
I feel something inside of thee
having epiphany's quietly, secretly
i walk down to the railroad
holding a blind fold to tie myself up with me

yes my mustache is long enough
yes my rope knots are strong enough
no I won't do the job wrong enough
to hold up the iron horse

but omitting outside of me
pulled i back into thee having epiphany's
we drive down to the station
explained situation, don't hang yourself up with me

yes my mustache is long enough
yes my rope knots are strong enough
Yes I won't do the job wrong enough
to hold up the iron horse

let the sun set on us, our tombstones have not slept
if today ran away, tomorrow has not wept
accounting for the promises tomorrow has not kept

I feel something inside of thee
having epiphany's quietly, secretly
but omitting outside of me
pulled i back into thee having epiphany's
Track Name: A Note from the Last Pilot
the knob to the left
controls the east and the west
the switch to the right
controls the day and the night
but the radio broke

a button below controls
how much you go
a lever above
lift it all the way up
to go flying around

I was once an airplane
over the ocean
stuck between blue and blue
over the ocean
when the radio broke
Track Name: Domino
i'm a domino
in a line
of chess pieces

i will overflow
it's fine
falling is beautiful, for a domino

now I'm laying down
i wait
for you to pick me up
you always seem to come late
Track Name: Carnival
paper weighted carnival flying through the air
circling the carousel on a sunlit bear
just move your legs around to the guitar sound

at the cardboard calliope the candor butcher's swear
that i'm a midnight trouper
just move your legs around to the guitar sound
